Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions, in San Jose, CA is currently seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to support the site. This position will focus on the sustaining elements in chip and wire assembly, such as defect reduction, material control, and process control. 

  • Provide daily production support by taking a hands-on approach evaluating defects, working with operators and troubleshooting machines
  • Train operators and write work instructions to document key process steps
  • Support processes including; eutectic die attach, wire bonding, epoxy attach, gap welding and PWB surface mount processes.  
  • Track metrics and setup systems to insure continual quality improvements.
  • Improve processes based on statistical analysis of data and by applying process controls
  • Improve factory layout to optimize throughput and improve efficiency and quality.
Education and Experience:
  • BS degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical, or Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering is required, 5 years experience minimum in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must show definite interest and desire to work on process problems and improvements in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Must have aptitude for running scientific experiments with the use of DOE and other statistical techniques. 
  • Ability and desire to work hands-on in a team environment is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills are required to work with a wide variety of people, including design engineers, project engineers, and manufacturing personnel.
  • US Citizenship required along with the ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance.
