Job Description:
This role reports to the Safety/Facility Manager of the Integrated Space Solutions business area. The Facilities Assistant directly responsible for the day to day activities for all sites that make up the ISS Business.  The ideal candidate is someone with strong experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously to maintain full functionality and regulatory compliance of the physical sites.  The candidate must be a highly motivated and driven self-starter who has proven leadership to work across functions in a matrix organization to optimize performance and deliver on commitments. 

  • The Facilities Assistant is responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results.
  • The successful candidate will oversee the facility operations, manage staff, manage office moves and manage janitorial duties; all while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate HVAC system repairs and monitor system performance. 
  • Maintain adequate equipment replacement parts inventory and order items as necessary. Contract out landscaping and snow removal services (as required).
  • Perform audits and record-taking policies. 
  • Coordinate with the Safety/Facility Manager on the implementation of new building projects.  Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols. 
  • Assist the Safety/Facility Manager with efforts related to implementation of lean manufacturing initiatives, building layouts and operations layouts, and assist in coordination of work transfers as required.
  • Oversee a team of maintenance technicians. Collaborate with Safety specialists in both Long Island and New Jersey.
  • Supervise and oversee the execution of equipment PM.
  • Support goals and initiatives related to Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE).
  • Support all functions with KPI data, and analysis to drive root cause and corrective actions on enterprise wide initiatives.
  • Work with other key stakeholders to design and execute product wise and plan aligned with overall business goals
  • Coordinate with the Safety/Facility Manager for the program budget.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Provides leadership to resolve quality issues determines short, intermediate and long term corrective action plans and monitors to insure plans are implemented and validated.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associates Degree, H.S. Diploma or equivalent 
  • 3-6 years’ experience in a facilities position
  • Able to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems blueprints and drawings.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Experience in an industry with regulatory requirements and high quality standards
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in a distributed organization
  • Ability to travel as business demand requires
Preferred Experience:
  • A Certified Facilities Manager (CFM) credential is highly valued
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline preferred
