At Cobham Aerospace Communications, our engineers design the next generation flight deck communications platform offering global, high-speed, secure, IP connectivity for the cockpit.
We’re seeking a Digital Hardware Tech Lead demonstrating technical leadership by taking responsibility for initiating, planning, execution, from requirements definition to release of the product.
You would be involved in every aspect of design, development, risk management, change control, status reporting.
In this role, you will be responsible for having the technical oversite of Digital Hardware development activities, and give guidance to a hardware engineering team responsible for developing electrical circuits, products, and systems. Other essential functions include:

  • Analyse, decompose and identify work breakdown for complex technical interface requirements.
  • FPGA design (VHDL Programming).
  • HW designs containing, FPGAs, MCUs, high speed serial interfaces
  • Participate in design reviews, assuring proper attendees and proper coverage of topics, imparting lessons learned and good design practices to all that attend.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility of own tasks.
  • Team lead aspirations.
What you need for success:
  • Technical Leadership.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, must be comfortable presenting to groups and leaders.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN and USB etc. with embedded programming and debugging skills.
  • Familiar with high speed design signal integrity issues, power distribution techniques and modern processors, FPGAs
  • Strong knowledge of CPU architecture, interfaces etc.
  • Experience and knowledge of tools like Cadence Allegro and Orcad.
  • May function in an advisory or leadership role for a project/program and provide direction and guidance to less experienced professional staff or team of professional staff.
Highly preferred skills and certifications:
The candidate should have a working knowledge of the following areas:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in regulated market industries e.g. Aerospace & Defence, Medical, Automotive or Railway
  • Danish speak is highly desirable but not essential
  • Desirable: experience with aeronautical standards e.g. RTCA DO-254
  • Experience with EMC measurements and an understanding of applicable regulatory standards.
  • Experienced in bringup and debug of high density digital hardware.
  • Expertise in end-to-end PCB design to Gerber release for production including interfaces DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, eMMC, ETHERNET (10/100/1000BaseT, FX, SFP), USB, UART.
  • Experience with low-power circuit design, DC/DC converters, power management methods, audio circuit design, and analog design
  • Experience with mixed-signal board-level design.
  • Experience with embedded programming (C, C++, Python) a plus
