Cobham SATCOM is looking for exceptional new Software Developers who share our passion for technology and software development. You would play an important role in bringing our high-tech vision to life. We love what we do and enjoy working with people with similar enthusiasm.

The infrastructure group in Cobham SATCOM recently won a contract for making completely new hardware and associated software for a BGAN satellite communication system. The main board is a new wideband RF converter with state-of-the-art HW that includes a quad core ARM processor and an FPGA fabric high speed ADC/DAC and high-speed serial links. The wideband RF converter interfaces using high speed serial links to several digital processing modules holding a combined ARM processor and FPGA as well as two TI Multicore DSPs.
Cobham is looking for Software Developers (engineers or computer scientists) to work with all software aspects of the above hardware platform, including bring-up SW, test SW, application SW to control the chassis and the satellite channels that will be dynamically set-up and taken down.
These roles are based at Cobham SATCOM’s headquarters in Kgs. Lyngby, Copenhagen, where all development is done onsite.
Ideal candidates for this position would have an interest and experience in more than just C++. Working with satellite communication infrastructure projects, you would enjoy learning new programming techniques and would quickly get comfortable with new software frameworks, concepts and platforms. You would expand your knowledge in the following areas:
  • Embedded programming.
  • Software architecture and design.
  • Distributed systems.
  • Linux OS.
  • C++ programming / object-orientation.
  • Test-driven development.
  • Git.
  • Telecommunication standards (3GPP standards, IEEE standards, etc.).
  • Networking in general, Local Area Network standards.
  • Satellite and mobile communication.

As a Software Developer your key skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Network Technology or equivalent.
  • Solid experience developing software on a Linux operating system.
  • Proficiency in C++ programming as well as object-oriented programming.
  • Experience from test-driven development.
Our software development is done in small teams using the Scrum methodology. You will be working side-by-side with highly skilled seasoned professionals who will be able to assist you with all your questions. In the beginning, you will be assigned a mentor who is the technical first point of contact. You will be sitting in an office together with 2 to 3 colleagues with the rest of the team in neighbouring offices. As all development takes place in Kgs. Lyngby, this means fast decision-making.
Later you will be able to broaden yourself into other areas of the systems, i.e. databases, user interface (SNMP/WEB), control SW and participate in system and acceptance testing. You may be able to participate in on-site installations and testing at satellite access stations around the world.
Please be advised that successful candidates must be willing to present a criminal record and go through the mandatory security clearance prior to commencing employment with Cobham SATCOM.
