The Quality Manager has the authority and accountability to manage the successful performance of the Quality function at the site. The incumbent will represent Cobham in customer interactions related to quality issues and, through their leadership and example, cultivates all site employees in Cobham’s commitment to quality excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manages and implements quality programs, policies, and initiatives.
  • Follow QMS procedures and lead the AS9100 Rev D/ ISO 9001-2000 compliance registration within aerospace or Mil-Spec environment
  • Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
  • Lead dock to stock initiatives
  • Review supplier non-conformances; issue corrective actions as deemed necessary
  • Lead certified operator program; build quality into the process, minimize dependence on final inspection
  • Provide management oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with company quality requirements and customer quality requirements.
  • During cross functional meetings, interface with company departments ensuring compliance to customers' and company's quality requirements.
  • Review customer purchase order and contracts, become familiar with customer documents and communicate quality requirements to cognizant departments.
  • Perform internal procedure and process audits as requested.
  • Represents QA on Material Review Board (MRB) and Configuration Control Board (CCB).
  • Perform supplier surveys and assist in supplier oversight.
  • Interface with engineering department in design, support and documentation  of drawings and files
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 5 or more years related experience
  • Experience in QA/QC inspection functions in a supervisory role
  • Understanding of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of high technology products
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and decisively with all levels of the organization and be able to solve practical and complex problems
  • Able to read and interpret drawings and procedures
  • Able to use hand measuring instruments, i.e. calipers, micrometers, scales, gages
  • Excellent communication and presentations skills (articulate and persuasive)
  • Influence management skills; demonstrated ability to work constructively across all functions of the organization, including customers and suppliers
  • Experience in developing and leading QMS  audits in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lead internal and external audits
  • Provide leadership for quality system improvements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASQ certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence
  • Active member of Operational Excellence System initiatives
  • Risk assessments (e.g. FMEA), Practical Process Improvement (PPI) or Six Sigma experience
