Position Summary:
The individual will coordinate and work closely with other engineering and management disciplines on high-level design decisions. Work closely with staff to ensure on-time/-budget delivery of products. Individual should be capable of working with minimal supervision but understands required and available resources.

Perform technical analysis, design, implementation, and/or test of digital hardware, micro-controllers, and FPGAs.  Work from technical objectives, overall schedules, and expected results as specified by system specifications and program schedules. Lead project segments and take responsibility for achievement of schedule and technical performance. Interface directly with (internal/external) customers to provide suggestions/support to ensure design compliance with requirements as well as support hardware in the field.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Write embedded software for a variety of micro-controllers
  • Write VHDL for FPGA designs
  • Design digital hardware to interface with real-time and closed-loop Electronic Warfare subsystems to meet operationally relevant system goals
  • Interface with complex integration RF subsystems and/or motion controlled positioner assemblies
  • Learn and use engineering tools for new product development
  • Develop microcontroller and FPGA designs for multi-board control applications
  • Design and create communication interfaces between equipment and the user
  • Be responsible for complete board/module designs with respect to technical details, budget, and schedule
Required Skills:
  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Five (5) years of working experience in a combination of any of the following skills: Designing digital hardware (FPGAs, micro-controllers, memory, ADCs, DSPs, )
  • Writing C for embedded micro-controllers
    Writing VHDL for state of the art FPGAs such as Altera or Xilinx
  • Testing/integrating digital hardware
  • Schematic capture tools
  • Use of measurement equipment such as digital analyzers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc. to verify circuit performance
  • U.S. Citizenship required must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information
Desired Skills:
  • Experience developing/allocating hardware requirements to meet higher-level system goals
  • Work within a multi-discipline engineering team to achieve program goals
  • Familiar with common HW interfaces/data protocols (e.g. TCPIP, UDP, RS-422, USB, PCI, CAN)
  • Signal processing using Analog to Digital (ADC) and Digital to Analog (DAC) components
  • Familiar with motion control or various automation devices; limit switches, encoders, resolvers, relays, etc.
  • Experience interfacing with and parameters of RF components; switches, amplifiers, etc.
  • Familiar with Altium Designer for schematic entry
