Cobham Aviation Services have a requirement for an HR Advisor (Including International)


The HR Adviser will provide an efficient and effective HR Advisory service to all employee groups and work closely with the HR Business Partners, ensuring that all information leaving the department is in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures, employment legislation and established HR best practice.  






Based at Hurn, Christchurch

HR plays an important role in CAvS UK, and is an enabler of our business, ensuring our HR solutions lead to enhanced business effectiveness and results. We put our internal customers at the heart of all our recommendations and decisions, so we can deliver to ‘Every Mission Matters’.


Working closely with managers based in the UK and abroad, you will be the first point of contact for any international HR queries, delivering professional operational HR advice based on company policy, employment law and best practice.  When needed, you will also lean into the wider HR team and provide HR Advisor support to the UK sites.  Within this role you will manage a varied HR caseload, ranging from Occupational Health and absence queries, talent management and succession planning (working with the HR Advisor on graduates and apprentices), employee relations case management and reward.


We value the wellbeing and engagement of our employees, so you will also be working closely with our wider HR team and line managers, to ensure the wellbeing of employees, through effective attendance management, education and health surveillance.




As the HR Adviser your main responsibilities will involve:


You will have experience of working in a generalist HR Role at an advisory level, a CIPD level 5 qualification (and/or similar qualifications and demonstrable experience) and will be able to undertake the following duties:


Be the first point of contact on all international HR queries, and also supporting the UK HR team as and when needed


Support managers with employee relations cases (taking a lead in investigations, advising managers and attending formal meetings, up to and including dismissal, appeals and grievances)


Be a confident individual with proven communication skills, both verbal and written.


Be approachable, diplomatic, rational and logical in your approach


Have experience of using HR systems preferably Workday or equivalent


Develop and review policies and procedures including writing and updating staff handbooks which reflect or develop the organisation culture and in line with legal requirements


Management and practical support of international and UK recruitment


Stay on top of changes in statute and case law, reporting these to the team in regular team updates


Build and maintain relationships with your assigned functional managers



   As the HR Adviser your skills and qualifications will ideally include:


        CIPD, CPP or similar HR related qualification essential.


        Demonstrable experience of working at a similar level within an organisation


        Strong knowledge of UK employment law.


        Knowledge of international law desirable


        High level of accuracy and attention to detail.


        Ability to assimilate information quickly and accurately.


        Confidentiality at all times.


        Good report writing and communication skills.


        Excellent IT skills including Excel and Word.


        Ability to work independently and unsupervised.


        Ability to be assertive and challenge managers as appropriate


        A working knowledge of the HR policy and procedures and best practice.
