Cobham Helicopter Services has a requirement for a Flight Operations and Engineering Assistant to provide effective and efficient Flight Operations assistance to Cobham Helicopter Academy. In addition, to act as an administrator of a Flight Information Management System as procured by the Academy for ATO/Academy purposes.
To participate fully with the CHA safety process and culture to promote air safety and maintain compliance with MAA regulations.
The prime location is the Cobham site in Newquay
As a Flight operations Assistant and Engineering Assistant your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Understanding of and previous experience in flight operations
Ability to operate effectively in an environment that will demand a high level of flexibility and the ability to prioritise between various tasks
Good written and verbal communication skills
Be competent and proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Xcel
Hold a full driving licence
Wider understanding of IT beyond basic software programmes
As a Flight Operations Assistant and Engineering Assistant your main responsibilities will involve:
Act as the Operations/Engineering interface for Day of Operations tasking
Assist Engineering in achieving the requirements of flying programmes
Ensure that the programmes and changes to the programmes are efficiently communicated to the Flight Line Engineering focal points with particular attention to
Role Changes, Fuel Loads,Flight Times
Assist Operations in managing aircraft selection based on:
Mission Requirement Maintenance Forecast
Manage short term maintenance forecasting and planning of due list items
Assist in setting daily workloads iaw Ops tasking / Due list requirements, deferred defects
Raise relevant paperwork to document tasks, managing completion, copying and disposal as required to centralised Technical Services
Liaise with engineering to ensure the completion of such tasks whilst minimising impact to the flying programme
Manage the Flight Operations Room liaising with Cornwall Airport Newquay ATC and Operations to facilitate the effective passage of information, best working practices and promote Air Safety
Manage Flight operations documentation to ensure the provision of up to date information in CHA Operations and Flight Planning – including military FLIPs, maps, charts and documents (from AIDU in either paper of electronic format)
Conduct CALF and CHAD amendments for items displayed in CHA Operations and Flight Planning as well as any items carried on CHA aircraft
Monitor and order Flight Operations supplies
Ensure CHA Operations is manned and a log is kept during all flying operations
Record CHA flight data including sorties completed, lost sorties and reasons
Conduct a quarterly review of Operations Room procedures including the ERP (specifically crash and overdue actions liaising with the Newquay Airport Operations Manager)
Provide direct support to the CHA Chief Pilot in the event of a CHA helicopter emergency
Provide the CHA Chief Pilot with weekly statistics as dictated
Assist the Chief Pilot by monitoring and updating the CHA currency database
Assist the Chief Pilot by conducting a quarterly review of the CHA Fields and Clearings Handbook
