Cobham Aviation Services UK has recently been awarded a contract for the design and development of a range of operational training electronic warfare pods by the MoD on behalf of NATO. This will provide realistic training in EW to the member countries, in order to be able to operate in a real time situation. Based in Bournemouth Airport, CAVs UK is actively recruiting for senior Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (TEA) engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to build on your current experience in an interesting and challenging area.
The Senior Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (TEA) engineer is responsible for applying discipline domain expertise to the formal test, evaluation and acceptance activities of an advanced, airborne electronic warfare training system. The engineer will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) and will contribute to the performance of the IPT as a Test Manager to ensure that the Customer’s expectations are met or exceeded. The engineer will have responsibility for the conduct of formal tests (FAT and UAT), evaluation activities including flight trials and system acceptance through verification of the customer system requirements. This will include, but is not limited to, development of the test plans, identification of specialist resource and test infrastructure required to enable the verification of the requirements and the design, implementation and completion of the qualification tests. The engineer will support the creation of the necessary documentation required to support end use airworthiness certification. The engineer shall employ the appropriate processes, practices and tools to ensure that responsibilities are completed to meet the required project requirements with the needed quality. 
Responsibilities include the delivery of a technically compliant solution within the required project objectives (quality, technical performance, schedule and budget) and in compliance with the required standards, processes and practices (e.g. Life Cycle Management, Standard Operating Framework for Engineering and ITAR). The engineer will be expected to conduct the test, evaluation and acceptance of the system as appropriate throughout the project lifecycle to the achievement of final system acceptance
The prime location is the Cobham Aviation Services facility located at Christchurch, Dorset. 

As the Senior Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (TEA) Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include: 

  • Familiar with Project Management principles and practice
  • Expertise in the integration, qualification and test of products containing RF, analog and digital hardware, software and embedded software
  • Experience of aircraft systems, platform integration, and associated regulatory environment including, but not limited to security, EMC, TEMPEST, RoHS, WEEE, Mil Stds, Def Stans, EASA, FAA
  • Familiar with aerospace and defense industries, markets, products and technologies
  • Familiarity with the product lifecycle from system requirements, architecture, design, integration, qualification, verification, through to production and support
  • 10 or more years of experience in the integration, qualification and test of one or more of the following: radar, electronic warfare, communications and / or surveillance systems for an airborne environment 

As the Senior Test, Evaluation and Acceptance (TEA) Engineer your main responsibilities will involve: 

  • Safety first. Operate at Special Mission in accordance with the SHE standards. Identify where the SHE Standards are applicable to appointed operations/tasks and apply safe systems of work
  • Application of discipline domain knowledge to the integration, qualification and test of new products and technologies on time, within budget and with required quality
  • Ability to develop a detailed work schedule in accordance with the project test, evaluation and acceptance plan (TEAP).
  • Continued development of discipline competence and expertise.
  • Application of, and compliance with, engineering processes and practices including engineering framework, LCM and regulatory requirements
  • Identification of opportunities for improvement in discipline processes, practices and tools.
  • Collaboration with other project team members to address project requirements
  • Collaboration with discipline peers within the team, BU and company to share and learn best practice
  • Support the implementation of design review practice in accordance with LCM project governance
  • Identify and document as needed our intellectual property such as trade secrets, patents and controlled information
  • Contribute to business winning technical proposals
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested by management within the capability of the incumbent
