Cobham is seeking an Instructional Designer / eLearning Developer who will support online, offline, and classroom training delivery from course assignments to preparation, distribution, and retrieval of class materials.  This position is located in Davenport, IA.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support online, offline, and classroom training delivery from course assignments to preparation, distribution, and retrieval of class materials
  • Provide learning management system (LMS) support to all site employees and stakeholders
  • Research and resolve LMS functionality issues as they arise
  • Collaborate with peers to determine and facilitate best practices in training delivery
  • Design and maintain accurate and up-to-date class schedules and training deployments
  • Run reports and update the Training Manager and stakeholders on employee training status
  • Create course components and training materials for various delivery media
  • Support peers and the manager with testing, proofreading, and editing as applicable
  • Write scripts, build storyboards, and edit graphics for training materials
  • Create videos based on onscreen captures using a variety of software programs
  • Support new employee orientation and onboarding events with class material preparation, data entry, and recordkeeping
  • Create, revise, and maintain learning plans for employees as required by their managers and job function
  • Design and build assessments in meaningful interactive activities for inclusion in training
  • Record temporary voice-over or use text-to-audio software for temporary animations
  • Work with SMEs and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy of the content from draft stages to upload of the final version into the LMS
  • Work with SMEs to produce instructor-led materials that include presentations, class manuals, and lab books
  • Revise and update training and related material in various formats, using any MS Office software, Adobe, and Articulate authoring programs
  • Support the Training Department programs and projects in all required aspects to ensure timely training development and delivery is achieved to the internal customers’ satisfaction
  • Maintain a professional interface with all employees and perform any additional duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS degree in Web Design, Multimedia Development, Database Administration, or related field
  • 3 + years of experience with content and/or learning management systems
  • 1+ year of experience with computer networks setup, administration, and support
  • 1 + year of experience with Web-based development and scripting languages
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. In order to be eligible you must be either a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters’ degree in Instructional Design or Technology
  • Familiarity with adult learning theories and instructional design principles
  • Creativity for both visual and written works and ability to write effective copy, instructional text, scripts for training and video content
  • Knowledge of course development software such as Articulate Studio (Presenter, Quizmaker, Engage) and Articulate Storyline
  • Experience in Web design, copy editing, and/or technical publications
  • Familiarity with xAPI and LRS technologies
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and present technical concepts clearly and concisely
  • Ability to learn new tools and methods as technology and requirements change
  • Proven formal education and work experience
