Cobham Aviation Services has extensive experience in the provision of passenger transport services for corporate clients.
Our capabilities in passenger transport are reflected in our
role as the outsourced operator of the Qantas Airways regional jet
fleet in Australia. Since 1991, we have provided engineers, pilots,
cabin crew, operations and management staff under a long-term,
performance-based contract with Qantas Airways.
This major operation comprises a fleet of Boeing 717 aircraft
carrying more than two million passengers each year between
Australia's capital cities and the regional airports. Cobham is the
only third party operator trusted to operate under the Qantas brand
as custodians of Qantas' customers, image and aircraft.

Fly-in/fly-out services
Cobham is a leading provider of high capacity air transport
services throughout remote areas of Australia, supporting fly
in/fly out (FIFO) operations for blue-chip clients in the resource
sector.
We tailor our services precisely to customers' operational
requirements and the Embraer 190, BAe146/RJ series and Bombardier
Dash 8 regional jets that we operate are popular, not only for
their excellent performance but also their passenger comfort.
Jet services to gravel runways
In an Australian first, Cobham commenced jet FIFO services to
gravel runways (unpaved airfields) in 2012 following
modification of a number of BAe 146 jets. These jets are equipped
with "gravel kits" that protect the undercarriage and airframe
during take-off and landing.
We are the only provider in Australia that operates
jet aircraft to gravel runways. This innovation enables resource
companies to upgrade to jet aircraft services for transporting
employees to mine sites operating with gravel runways.
Our jet aircraft are larger and faster than other aircraft
currently used in FIFO operations to gravel runways, which enables
us to move more people, faster, using fewer services.
Focused on safety
Cobham was a founding participant in the Basic Aviation Risk
Standard (BARS) program, which was established by the Flight Safety
Foundation to meet an industry-identified need for a
common global aviation safety standard for application to onshore
resources sector aviation support activities.
The BAR Standard has been adopted by many of the world's
largest resource companies to assist them with the management of
their aviation risk. Cobham has been awarded 'Gold' BARS status and
has fully approved and audited Regulatory compliance and Safety
Management Systems in place across its operations.
