Cobham Apprentices visit House of Commons

Apprentices travel to London for the recognition event, hosted by ADS

Cobham apprentices travelled to London today to visit the Houses of Commons and meet their local MPs as part of a prestigious apprentice recognition event, hosted by ADS.

L-R: Scott Tizzard, Anthony Jenkins, Ashleigh Baker and Daniel Bliss.

Ashleigh Baker, Anthony Jenkins, Daniel Bliss and Scott Tizzard who joined Cobham plc after completing their studies at secondary school, are part of the company's highly popular college-based 4 year Apprenticeship Programme. The programme combines college study with vocational training, providing apprentices with nationally recognised qualifications to help them begin bright and successful careers within the engineering sector.

"The reception gives apprentices the opportunity to meet their local MPs and talk about their experiences" said Gerry Bishop, Emerging Talent Manager at Cobham plc. "But, most importantly, it celebrates their achievements and highlights just how important apprentices are to the future of the engineering and technology sectors as well as to organisations such as Cobham plc."

Ashleigh Baker, currently in the third year of her apprenticeship at Cobham, said "I am thrilled to have been invited to attend the event today. The Apprenticeship Programme at Cobham has been an inspirational and exciting place to start my career. On completing my A-levels, I was uncertain about the university route so researched into other options available. Choosing an apprenticeship has allowed me to combine studying and on-the-job training with earning money, which has been really valuable. I'm glad I can talk about my experiences today and hopefully encourage young people to consider apprenticeships when making decisions about their future."
