Cobham is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our Facilities team. The ideal candidate will have a “team first” approach. The Environmental Technician will receive on the job training and be fully supported as they become comfortable with their responsibilities. It is expected that this candidate also be flexible and available to assist the other members of the Facilities team as needed.
The Environmental Technician’s primary responsibility will be to maintain our existing chemical program. This will include chemical handling and management of universal and hazardous wastes. This will require the ability to track chemical usage and chemical delivery around the site. As well as pickup waste from various locations around the site and properly segregate, store and label them in accordance with regulatory requirements.
In addition, the Environmental Technician will:
Assist the Safety Health and Environmental Coordinator with maintaining compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local Regulations
Coordinate with multiple vendors for delivery/pick up of various chemicals and their associated wastes.
Schedule and prepare shipping documents associated with universal and hazardous wastes.
Maintain and organize the Chemical Storage Area, ensuring it complies with regulatory requirements.
Conduct periodic monthly and weekly visual inspections.
Spill clean-up and management and maintenance of spill clean-up equipment.
Maintain first aid supply inventory and distribute when requested.
Assist in maintaining our Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP)
Assist the SHE department with regulatory tracking and permitting.
Provide assistance to Facilities with meeting setups/breakdowns.
Provide general Facilities and SHE support when requested.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Studies or related field OR High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and 2 years of related work experience.
The candidate will be required to complete an OSHA HAZWOPER certification course provided by Cobham shortly after they are hired.
