Cobham is seeking an Electronic Engineering Technician 3 – Antennas to perform operational tests on highly complex antenna developmental and production components, subassemblies and systems involving a thorough working knowledge of advanced theory, instrumentation, measurement techniques and antenna range trouble shooting and diagnostics. This position is in Lansdale, PA.


Please Note:  This position will primarily be for weekend shifts.  Fourth shift: Friday-Monday - 10 hour days.



  • Determines, sets up and operates a wide variety of standard test stands consisting of multiples of PNA’s, positioning equipment, oscilloscopes, amplifiers, etc. and complex test equipment especially connected and set up for tests on highly complex antenna subassemblies and systems in accordance with available instructions and specifications.

  • Complies with standard test procedures and specifications to perform tests on highly complex antenna developmental programs and production antenna components, subassemblies and systems.

  • Verifies and analyses test results. Troubleshoots repairs and adjusts equipment so that their performance complies with test requirements, and that the quality of the product is assured. Determines when rework is necessary to ensure product compliance with specifications.

  • Recommends changes in test procedures and specifications that will contribute to the improvement of testing efficiency and capabilities.

  • Works from a variety of documents including test specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, etc. where complete information is frequently lacking or from general oral engineering instructions requiring technical judgment, initiative and experience.

  • Instructs and gives technical direction to lesser-classified technicians.

  • Is responsible for the readiness of one or more antenna test ranges including general operation and maintenance, metrology calibration and security requirements related to closed area control, test station protection profile adherence and control of security of classified materials.

  • Will work directly with Antenna Engineers on development programs and advanced measurement programs.

  • Will work independently or with junior technicians and engineers on recurring test (production) programs.

  • Assignments may require flexibility and willingness to work at other sites, occasional alternate shifts and overtime to achieve business objectives.


  • Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (AEET) and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience relevant RF or antenna test experience.

  • Experience working in an engineering laboratory on production and development environment.

  • Experience gathering, processing, and analyzing RF signals in the Microwave and millimeter wave domains using various antenna test facilities using measurement instrumentation (PNA, Spectrum Analyzers, ENAs, etc.).

  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.

  • Travel- typically less than 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in setting up test configurations across various RF frequency ranges using network analyzers, amplifiers, power meters, generators, RF Cabling/Connectors, and associated equipment required to make RF measurements.

  • Experience with RF Antenna operation and theory.

  • Experience with interpreting complex performance and acceptance test specifications and procedures required for testing of antennas and associated RF components. 

  • Experience with Antenna Radiation Pattern Measurements using ORBIT 959 and Datapro Acquisition and Analysis Software.  

  • Experience with antenna anechoic chamber measurements, installation and testing of antennas on a ground plane and tuning various antennas.  

  • Experience with Outdoor antenna test ranges, Near Field Scanner measurement, Compact Range testing, RCS measurements, Leica Precision alignment equipment and laser alignment gear.

  • Ability to work shifts that may start early or later than standard day shift.
