Cobham SATCOM is looking for a System Engineering and Qualification Manager to support the Head of Design with managing overall System Requirements, documentation and applicable regulatory or customer required development processes related to safety and security as well as overall System Qualification and Verification. The System Engineering and Qualification Manager leads, manages and drives the performance of the Systems Engineering  and Qualification teams, including engineering and LCM process implementation, quality of the Systems Engineering practice, tool adoption and use, and competency, capability and capacity assessment and management.
 
The Systems Engineering and Qualification Manager supports the Aero Project Managers in managing the resource allocation and task assignment. The Systems Engineering and Qualification Manager will lead functional excellence through processes, practices and continuous improvement to improve  the performance, capability and competencies of the discipline
 
This role is based in KGS. Lyngby, Copenhagen.

As a System Engineering and Qualification Manager your key skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • Degree in the Electronics Engineering or Computer science
  • Extensive Systems Engineering and Qualification knowledge on embedded platforms, with experience in the entire product life cycle from inception to delivery
  • Experience in managing a engineering team
  • Experience in commercial, aerospace and defense industries, markets, products and technologies
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes, practices and measures of performance and ability to drive their continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with Qualification and Verification processes, practices and measures of performance and ability to drive  their continuous improvement
  • Experience with product certification and type approval processes e.g. DO-160G and DO-262 test
  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate progressive change in processes, practices and measures of performance 
  • The ability to lead and manage the high performing Systems Engineering and Qualification teams
  • The ability to work within a large organization in a matrix management structure
  • Decision making / problem solving – able to make decisions in complex and ambiguous situations - sometimes with incomplete data
  • Ability to build excellent relationships with the BU engineering leadership team and peers across Cobham globally
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to provide role modeling to the discipline team in line with Cobham core values and behaviours 

As a System Engineering and Qualification Manager your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Lead and manage the functional excellence for Systems Engineering team including performance metrics and professional development for the Systems engineering team
  • Identify areas for coordinated improvement, and work with Engineering Council to take action to improve engineering skills, processes, and knowledge for Systems Engineers
  • Collaborate with the Project Managers to address project needs and issues by allocating or shifting specific engineers within Systems Engineering and Qualification to specific projects within the department (drawing on their product and specific expertise) to minimize project risk
  • Team management and performance, career development and determination of competence priorities
  • Responsible for implementing design review practice, checklist usage and documentation requirements in accordance with the LCM project governance-model.
  • Ensure consistent methodologies and tools are used throughout the discipline in line with the process frameworks and the Engineering strategy.
