Cobham SATCOM is looking for a Power Supply Development Engineer to join our R&D team, where you will be involved in the development of switch mode power supplies, motor control and other analogue electronics
 
This role is based in KGS. Lyngby, Copenhagen.

As a Power Supply Development Engineer your key skills and qualifications will ideally include:

  • MSc or BSc in engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar job in the electronics industry.
  • Experience with gain/phase analysers and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • The ideal candidate will also have practical experience with the following:
    • Isolated and non isolated DC/DC convert topologies
    • Offline AC/DC converters with PFC (Power Factor Correction)
    • SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) Control and regulation theory 
    • Software for analog simulation e.g. LTSpice, Hyperlynx, etc.
    • Understanding of EMI/EMC issues relating to SMPS
  • An interest in the technological advanced within power supply design; power converter circuits, magnetics design and analogue electronics for switch mode power supplies.
  • Experience with schematic design and entry, incl. constraints, libraries and component selection.
  • PCB layout and Design for Manufacturing...
  • Ability to own and complete design work packages independently.
  • You are focused, energetic and have strong interpersonal skills. You take initiatives and are good at communicating with your colleagues, suppliers and other departments on a technical level.
  • You are a dedicated team player and see strength in knowledge sharing.
Desirable:
  • Experience with system integration – i.e. getting various modules of a system to work together.
  • Practical implementation experience, including DFx and value engineering
  • Awareness of documentation requirements to fulfil regulatory requirements

As a Power Supply Development Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:

We are looking for a talented colleague to join our R&D team, where you will be involved in the development of switch mode power supplies, motor control and other analogue electronics. All for the latest generations of L-band products and steerable antennas, to be used in e.g. Inmarsat’s BGAN satellite communication system. These products represent an important part of our product range for maritime and land-mobile applications.
 
You will be working hands-on with all phases of the development process from deriving design requirement from high-level system requirements, designing for high-reliability applications, peer reviewing own and others’ design, product implementation, error-tracing on prototypes, verification to design documentation.
 
As a natural extension to the development cycle you will also be contributing with documentation for production and offer support during new product introduction to both our internal- and external- production partners.
