Cobham Antenna Systems are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to cover Continuous Improvement within their Antenna’s business. The position is to drive continuous improvement into the manufacturing value streams through a combination of problem solving, supported investment and product introduction.
Based in Marlow
At Cobham Antenna Systems, we design and manufacture active and passive avionics antennas and electronic control systems for military and civil communications, navigation and search and rescue applications. We pioneered frequency agile VHF tuneable antennas and continue to be a key supplier to major avionics companies. Our GPS anti-jam technology utilises state of the art DSP algorithms with an active antenna to eliminate both narrow-band and wide-band jamming signals. We have world leading technology in Ground Penetrating Radar and RF interference mitigation. Both military and civil users rely on our direction finding systems for search and rescue operations.
As a Manufacturing Engineer-Continuous Improvement your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Awareness of Aerospace manufacturing requirements and processes.
Good problem solving skills, Green Belt would be advantageous but is not necessary.
Good project management skills and the ability to handle multiple calls on your time.
General Manufacturing / Mechanical skils such as reading drawings, raising investigation reports, interpreting specifications, etc.
Computer literate and ability to use Microsoft Tools essential, SysPro and SinglePoint useful but can be trained.
Good experience of light assembly and a sound Mechanical knowledge of ho

Achievement of annual KPI targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Lead-Time, and their respective leading measures.
As a Manufacturing Engineer your main responsibilities will involve:
Working with the manufacturing cells to identify, contain and resolve Operational issues by:
Processing and investigating Non Conformance Reports, and raising and pushing Change
Requests through the system.
Supporting and resolving Operational questions when building products.
Reviewing and updating Process Specifications.
Containing and resolving issues with non-conforming parts and helping identify them.
Identifying and, where necessary designing, new tools for Operations.
Supporting the business in meeting capacity constraints by:
Supporting Sub-Contracting reviews, where appropriate.
Highlighting where changes in run rates may impact Operations (e.g. constraints)
Highlighting and purchasing new equipment to improve productivity
Supporting the on-going development of the business in terms of improving efficiencies and reducing lead times by:
Developing investment proposals to improve Operational Performance (e.g. capital).
Defining and managing the local revenue budgets.
Developing proposals to reduce process complexity and improve standardisation.
Working with other functions to improve the Operational Effectiveness of the Manufacturing Cells in terms of Safety, Quality, Lead-Time, Cost and People Development.
Supporting the development of Apprentices, graduates and other people assigned to the Manufacturing Engineering function.
