Cobham’s Mobile Aircrew Vest Interface (MAVI) is an integrated aircrew vest and harness assembly providing maximum safety and comfort.

The Mobile Aircrew Vest Interface (MAVI) is designed to integrate with various aircrew vests currently in use by US Department of Defense (DoD), law enforcement and search and rescue personnel.  The MAVI system provides a greater level of occupant protection during a crash event or hard landing than that of traditional safety equipment, including the Crewmember Safety Belt (CSB) used by US DoD personnel.

Benefits over legacy systems

The MAVI improves safety and comfort for those that are traditionally tethered to an existing crewmember safety belt, or Gunners Belt, by incorporating an integrated harness into the aircrew vests.  The integration of the harness provides a greater level of occupant protection. Reduces head, neck and chest loads during a crash event or hard landing increasing survivability.

 

Integration with multiple vest types

The MAVI is designed to integrate with multiple popular vest types, including:

  • Eagle Industries CIACS Vest - in use by United States Air Force
  • Aerial Air Warrior Vest - in use by United States Army
  • Aerial TAC-AIR Vest - in use Multiple Domestic and International Law Enforcement Agencies
  • Aerial PSGC Vest - in use by United States & International Militaries
  • Eagle Industries Rhodesian RECON Vest - in use by United States Air Force

 

Integration with Mobile Aircrew Restraint System (MARS)

Combining a MAVI with a Cobham Mobile Aircrew Restraint System (MARS) provides the ultimate enhancement of occupant safety, mission performance and comfort.  The MARS and MAVI combination replaces the Gunners Belt, reducing trip hazards throughout the cabin and increases survivability.

 

Easy release in emergency situations

The MAVI utilises the Multi-Use Release Assembly (MURA) for easy release in emergency situations.  The MURA is specifically designed to provide easy release of the occupant under high tension loads is a redundant system capable of being released by either a primary cable release system at the front of the vest or a secondary thumb release on the MURA itself.
