KC-46A Tanker Completes Successful First Flight

Boeing’s first fully-configured KC-46A aerial refuelling tanker successfully completed its first flight on Friday 25th September, 2015. Fitted with a comprehensive suite of Aerial Refuelling equipment including Cobham Wing Aerial Refuelling Pods (WARPs), the aircraft flew for four hours whilst test pilots performed a range of operational checks on engines, flight controls and environmental systems and took the tanker to a maximum altitude of 35,000 feet prior to landing.

The KC-46 (EMD-2) which is entirely set up to pass fuel to military receiver aircraft is scheduled to deploy the WARPs systems and conduct aerial refuelling with a number of US Air Force aircraft in the next series of flight tests before the year end.
