Try the unique SAILOR ‘Multi-Function Universe’ at Workboat

New black-box satellite navigation receivers integrated with AIS and Navtex create a combined operator station for workboat bridges

International Workboat Show 2015, New Orleans - Cobham SATCOM's brand new SAILOR satellite navigation receivers will be shown fully integrated with the innovative SAILOR 'Multi-Function Universe' on Cobham SATCOM's Workboat 2015 booth (#3533). Ideal for workboats with restricted space on the bridge, SAILOR Multi-Function universe is a next generation navigation & communications concept based on advanced 'black-box' technology.

The new SAILOR 656X GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) and SAILOR 657X DGNSS (Differential Global Navigation Satellite System) join the SAILOR 6391 Navtex and SAILOR 628X AIS as new generation Cobham SATCOM products in the SAILOR Multi-Function Universe. All are designed to work on the same SAILOR 6004 Control Panel or on multiple SAILOR 6004 Control Panels, depending on vessel classification.

The advanced touch-screen SAILOR 6004 Control Panel forms the heart of the Multi-Function Universe, providing full control for all products connected to it from a single device. Operation of all systems connected to the SAILOR 6004 Control Panel is easy; just select the icon for the product as you would an app on any touch-screen device, to be given full control of all set-up, functions and diagnostics. In addition to enabling simpler installation using black-box products, saving space on the bridge and providing multiple product operation from various work stations, the SAILOR Multi-Function Universe also helps to reduce maintenance time and costs by providing a single point of access for service engineers.

The new SAILOR 656X GNSS and the SAILOR 657X DGNSS collect satellite data from any available navigation satellites including GPS and GLONASS and distribute it to a variety of on board systems such as; DP (Dynamic Positioning), ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display System), INS (Integrated Navigation System), GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress & Safety System), SATCOM (Satellite Communication System), MCS (Master Clock Systems) and PABX (Telephone Exchanges).

Cobham SATCOM offers four variants of its new satellite navigation products, all of which are designed 100% in-house. The SAILOR 6560 GNSS System and SAILOR 6570 DGNSS System are delivered with the SAILOR 6004 Control Panel and the corresponding SAILOR 6285 GNSS Antenna or SAILOR 6286 DGNSS Antenna, while the SAILOR 6561 GNSS Basic and SAILOR 6571 DGNSS Basic are delivered with the antennas only.

"Our booth at the Workboat Show will feature a state-of-the-art console with our new satellite navigation receivers, AIS and Navtex products all operating on the same network and on the same touchscreen," says Jan Kragh Michelsen, VP Maritime Business Development, Cobham SATCOM. "The benefits of this, especially for workboat bridges are quite clear in terms of space saved and easier access to vital navigation and communication systems from a single point on the bridge, which contributes to safer and more efficient operations."
