The Water Activated Mask Release (WAMR) is designed to provide automatic release of the oxygen mask on a pilot’s helmet following ejection into seawater. The WAMR uses an explosive squib as a power source to shear four(4) bolts within the apparatus, which releases the bayonet and oxygen mask.
- Installed in the same location and manner as the standard bayonet receiver assembly.
- Normally fitted on the right side of helmet but may be installed on either side.
- Arms after submerging; fires after clearing the water.
- Allows the pilot to breathe naturally while floating.
- WAMR body will separate after actuation, leaving the plastic spacer and jaws on the helmet.
- Will not actuate when subjected to rain or while underwater.
