Engineering and Design Capabilities
Cobham has a long history of being focused on the philosophy of continuous improvement. A Design for Six Sigma strategy is key in product development process. This Lean Six Sigma perspective focuses on all aspects of the business from initial customer contact to delivery of the finished product.
Manufacturing Capabilities
Cobham’s in-plant capabilities include a model shop for fabricating prototypes; spring shop for manufacturing helical and belleville springs and aneroids; mold room for molding elastomeric seals, seats, and diaphragms; as well as soldering, brazing, and welding facilities. Fully automated test stands, designed in-house, analyze test data efficiently while a state-of-the-art aqueous, multi-station cleaning facility which meets all governmental regulations is also on-site.
The environmentally controlled Assembly and Test area is conforms to FED-STD-209, Class 100,000. Other in-house testing capabilities include the ability to test with gaseous nitrogen, helium, oxygen, and argon at pressures up to 15,000 psi as well as a shock and vibration test lab.
Equipment Maintenance and Support
An especially unique element in Cobham’s approach to the maintenance of oxygen components is its understanding that proper cleaning and overhaul of high pressure oxygen components are critical to ensuring the safety and proper function of the equipment. An integral part of ensuring a long, safe, and low maintenance service life is application of sound technology so that the oxygen wetted components are clean during reassembly and transport, and preclude the introduction of contamination during normal use.
Cobham’s oxygen components and systems are overhauled and serviced in a Class 10,000 clean room. Oxygen wetted components are cleaned in a multistep process which exceeds NASA specifications.
Cobham overhauls and repairs include a full one year warranty. These services are performed exclusively in-house at our Orchard Park, NY facility.
