Cobham Customers using any of the range of Cobham Towed Targets/Electronic Warfare pods benefit from the following:
Full Access to an Industry-Leading Range of Training Scenarios
Targets can be presented from Sea-Skimming (at 5 metres) to Ground-to-Air with tow lengths up to 30,000ft & airspeeds from 180 to 300 KIAS easily accommodated. This provides the Customer with access to an industry-leading range of Ground-to-Air training scenarios, achieving an unparalled breadth of training whilst maintaining the convenience of a single-source training provider.
Bespoke Pyrotechnic Arrangements
Up to 6 pyrotechnics can be fitted to most targets: Visual, InfraRed (IR) and Smokes. Any combination of these can be carried, ensuring the most effective training solution is delivered on every sortie flown, fully-flexible to suit varying Customer requirements.
Bespoke Radar Enhancement Capability
Radar Enhancement can be provided to aid either target acquisition or tracking, if required. The lenses which determine the degree of Radar Enhancement are fitted to the nose of the target and manufactured to give a specific RCS - typically between 0.1 to 0.5m2.
Enabling Immediate Learning - 'Live' Missed Distance Indication Downlink
Almost all targets flown can be fitted with Missed Distance Indication (MDI) equipment, which provides either the towing aircraft, or a suitably equipped ship/ship-based station, with an immediate readout of the results of the firing. Our experience shows MDI is an invaluable training aid in providing operators and instructors with the results of a firing, before the next target presentation. This enables aiming or tracking errors to be corrected during the training period, ensuring maximum Value for Money is achieved from every target presentation.
