Manufacturing

Following is a basic overview of the Cobham Defense Electronic Systems design and development cycle demonstrating our in-house capabilities:

  • 1. Electrical engineers use sophisticated electromagnetic software to design products to customer specifications.
  • 2. Finite element analysis (FEA) software is used for mechanical analysis
  • 3. Electrical and mechanical designs are converted into a 3-D solid model by Cobham   Defense Electronics Systems’ Drafting department.
  • 4. CNC programs are created to support all hardware and tool machining. CNC programming and machining is done in-house.
  • 5. The final part is dimensionally inspected using a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) by one of Cobham Defense Electronics Systems’ certified inspectors.

The transition from the design and development phase to production is seamless. This world-class manufacturer boasts the following in-house manufacturing capabilities:

    1. Precision and high volume CNC milling machines
    2. Programmable Bridgeport milling machines
    3. Aluminum dip braze
    4. Walk-in paint booths
    5. Torch braze/solder/welding stations
    6. From Class 100 bench to Class 10,000 clean room
    7. Hydraulic, pneumatic and cam-driven flex corrugation machines
    8. Cleaning and conversion coating tanks
    9. Autoclaves that can handle RF composite structures up to 8’ x 18’
    10. Plating
