The Helicopter Antenna Actuator System (HAAM) from Cobham Surveillance (GMS Products) provides superior airborne video downlink transmission by extending the antenna below the airship, away from the body of the Helicopter. With a flip of a switch, the antenna is brought-up and safely stowed for landing. Designed for safety and convenience, this system can be installed in a few minutes and is designed to safely break away if you forget to retract the antenna.
A typical GMS skid mount COFDM helicopter system is comprised of the following components:
- HPT COFDM Transmitter
- 6dB Omni Antenna
- Actuator Mechanism
- Skid Shoe
- Actuator Control box
- Remote Control Unit (RCU)
- Interconnecting Cables
The actuator control box provides controls and status indicators for the antenna deployment as well as two additional devices. Cobham Surveillance (GMS Products) offers a wide variety of FM transmitters, C-OFDM transmitters and power amplifiers can optionally be installed on the Skid Plate Adapter and be enabled via the control box. An optional Remote Control Unit (RCU), can also be provided to change frequencies, power levels, or any transmitter parameter. High efficiency switching power supplies are provided to allow the entire system to be run from 28V DC.
