FM (Analog) Receivers

Frequency Modulation (FM) systems from Cobham provide reliable transmission of video, audio, and telemetry data under line-of-sight conditions. Due to their superb size, weight, power consumption, and compatibility with legacy systems, they continue to have a presence in many DoD applications, especially Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV).
Over the past few years, a majority of Cobham's customers have shifted away from FM in favor of our cutting-edge Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (COFDM) digital technology. COFDM is superior to FM in nearly every performance and capability aspect. It makes high level digital encryption readily available, propagates further, and is immune to degradation caused by multipath. Additionally, Cobham's COFDM links are able to operate in non line-of-sight and can support high-end requirements such as High Definition and dual video streams. Recent improvements in the size, weight, latency and cost of Cobham's COFDM technology are making it ever more appealing as a replacement for FM.
Cobham will continue manufacturing FM technology for the foreseeable future as long as there is a significant demand. Receiver models are listed below, and customers should consult the factory to learn about current availability in various frequency bands.
FM customers interested in learning about the benefits of COFDM technology are encouraged to contact their Cobham account manager for more info.
