Cobham Composite Products has produced and delivered over 11,000 composite airframe structural components for Unmanned Air Vehicles in support of U.S. Army and Marine Corps and manned aircraft in support of military and commercial customers. Composite Products fabricates fuselages, wings, control surfaces, sensor housings and internal support structures and employs a variety of materials and manufacturing processes depending upon component size, tolerance and surface finish requirements. Sub-assembly operations are completed on some components and include integration of bulkheads and internal reinforcing ribs and spars as well as more complex operations such as alignment and installation of control surfaces onto wing structures and actuation mechanisms into the molded structures. Finishing operations include attachment of fasteners, bonding and painting. Currently we are developing hybrid RTM components for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
