Cobham Technical Services has developed a number of small satellite communications terminals for man-portable mobile applications. These include outdoor transmit/receive units for deployment on marine and land mobile platforms, which integrate high performance antennas with optimized RF electronics. These provide superior coverage performance and also offer options for power control, Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) and an integrated GPS receiver.
Cobham has also developed a lap-top sized portable broadband Ku-band Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) demonstrator, based around a high-efficiency 'Diamond' flat-plate antenna technology and spread spectrum modulation which mitigates interference with adjacent satellites.
