Cobham Technical Services provides market-leading antenna solutions for broadband satellite communications 'on-the-move' (SOTM) across land, sea and aerospace applications. We are developing a family of SOTM products based on reflectors, phased arrays and novel materials as a part of a multi-million pound investment programme. Our latest SOTM design will be launched as a Ku-band system specifically tailored for demanding off road and airborne applications, but will offer a Ka-band upgrade path.
We also specialise in the development of compact satellite communication terminals and outdoor units for portable and mobile applications at L-band and S-band. This includes outdoor transmit/receive units for deployment on marine and land mobile platforms. These products integrate high-performance antennas with optimized RF electronics, which offer superior performance in terms of coverage, Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) and G/T. They also offer options for power control, Built-in Test Equipment (BITE) and an integrated GPS receiver.
Cobham Technical Services has developed a lap-top sized portable broadband Ku-band Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) demonstrator, based around high-efficiency 'Diamond' flat-plate antenna technology and spread-spectrum modulation which mitigates interference with adjacent satellites.
