Cobham Technical Services has designed and developed radio systems and sub-systems operating in the HF, VHF and UHF bands as well as equipment for higher frequency (L-band and S-band) line-of-sight links and wireless networks.
In the VHF/UHF bands, a digitally enabled radio/navigation suite has been developed as a replacement for existing analogue products deployed on commercial aircraft. The use of digital base band processing allows compatibility with modern digitally based communications link protocols, including VDL and P25.
Various systems have also been designed which operate in the licence-free 2.4 GHz band. These include an ad-hoc network-based personal role radio for military use and Zig-bee wireless control links for aircraft. High-performance RF components have also been developed and supplied for high data-rate L-band telemetry links.
