Cobham Technical Services has developed compact interference cancellation systems which can remove the mutual RF interference caused due to co-locating several RF transceiver systems in land, sea or aerospace applications.
The technology is embodied in 'mINCAN' - a range of standard Cobham products marketed by Cobham Antennas. All mINCAN systems build on an innovative technical approach, which has been proven in the field over the last 25 years on a wide range of military platforms in Europe and the US.
A mINCAN system works by taking samples of the interfering RF signals and adjusting each in magnitude and phase to provide an exact antiphase cancellation. These are then injected into the feeder line connected between the receive antenna and the receiver in order to remove the interference before it reaches the receiver. This avoids desensitisation or, in the worst case, total blocking of the receive channel. The system can also be utilised for communications in the presence of jamming signals.
