Low & Medium Voltage PIN diode
Applications
Common uses of these devices are fast switching, attenuation and limiting. They operate at frequencies from a few MHz to 100 GHz.
In switching applications, such as timing digital bit streams, these PIN diodes support signal power levels below 30 W, up to 100 GHz. Thin I layers, from 1 to 50 µm, and passive mesa technology in chip configurations, yield very low junction capacitance (Cj), below 0.025 pF.
As attenuators, such in Automatic Gain Control (AGC) circuits, these PIN diodes are manufactured with a proprietary technology. This technology optimizes the relationship between Cj and RSF (Forward Series Resistance), offering a high Minority Carrier Lifetime Ċl, which minimizes signal distortion.
In limiting applications, such as passive protection for receivers, these PIN diodes operate as power dependent variable resistors.
